Q. What is the North Carolina Senior Citizens Association (NCSCA)?
A. NCSCA is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization designed to benefit the senior citizens of North Carolina. It was chartered by the State of North Carolina, June 28, 1977. NCSCA has members in every county of the state. The Association is designed to encourage greater opportunity for the senior citizens of our state. We have helped nearly 400,000 senior citizens understand the complicated subject of Medicare, Medicare supplement, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Part D and long term care protection.

Q. How did NCSCA get started?
A. NCSCA was founded because of its interest in the welfare of the senior citizens of North Carolina. NCSCA is concerned that our senior citizens should not be penalized or impoverished by today's spiraling inflation, but should be able to live their older years with confidence, purpose, dignity, security, and peace of mind. It was for these reasons that the NCSCA was founded.

Q. Who is eligible for membership in NCSCA?
A. Any person age 50 and over is eligible for membership in NCSCA. Membership dues are $12.00 per year. One membership entitles member and spouse to all NCSCA benefits and privileges. Thousands are currently members from every county in North Carolina.

Q. What are some of the specific benefits that are included in membership?
A. A subscription to "Senior Citizens VOICE," the official award winning newsletter and e-newsletter of the Association; Medicare supplement plans, long term care plans; participation in the NC Coalition on Aging, luncheons, educational workshops and seminars; an official NCSCA membership card that many businesses will acknowledge for senior citizens' discounts; and our Helpline toll-free number 1-800-323-6525.

Q.Why should I join NCSCA?
A. The greatest thing about joining NCSCA is that you will be a part of an organization of your friends and neighbors dedicated to helping you lead a more enriching and fulfilling life. You will help senior power and the Association grow across the state. Your membership entitles you and your spouse to a lifetime of savings on ALL NCSCA benefits and services. Plus, you will be joining a statewide fellowship of men and women who share your concerns and interest - with whom you can share your hopes, strengths, and experiences. We need your support, strength and commitments to the rights and privileges of all senior North Carolinians.

Q. Is NCSCA a state agency or an insurance company?
A. No. It is a non-profit association solely concerned with the welfare of its members. The NCSCA is not affiliated, endorsed or connected with Social Security or with any federal or state agency.
