Why Medicare Advantage Plans are Often Useless?

The Association has received a number of calls from seniors across America who have enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan without fully understanding the impact of their decision. Some health insurance companies and agents are misleading seniors into buying Medicare Advantage plans that are not accepted by many doctors and hospitals. These plans are available in every state; however, Medicare Advantage plans are not the best fit for many Medicare beneficiaries, though that is how they are often presented by agents. We strongly recommend you carefully review your options. Medicare Advantage Plans are Often Useless

Medicare Advantage is a health insurance program run by private insurance companies contracted by Medicare. If you enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan you will automatically be dis-enrolled from Original Medicare and you will NOT be able to use your red, white, and blue Medicare card. If you enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan, there are network restrictions. This means you are required to see the healthcare providers in the Medicare Advantage network; plus, in most cases, you will need to get prior approval when you need care, except in case of an emergency.
